Microneedling and antiaging with collagen induction therapy
Microneedling uses controlled microinjuries which triggers the body’s innate response to injury and in turn, promotes a positive inflammation, proliferation (skin cell turn over) and remodeling process, to improve your skin texture, quality and brilliance. The remodeling process with microneedling creates new collagen without fibrosis. Because of this mechanism, we are able to break up old acne scars, decrease hyperpigmentation, soften lines, smooth skin texture and tighten enlarged pores! I use the only FDA approved microneedling pen on the market, SkinPen®.
What to expect:
Discuss with your provider your skin care routine proper to your treatment as some agents like retinol may affect your treatment.
When you arrive to the office, I will apply a topical numbing medication for comfort and you will be provided a serum formulated and studied by Bellus Medical in conjunction with the SkinPen® device, to take home with you to use for the first 24 hours following your procedure. Other than this gel, nothing is to go on your skin for 24 hours- no cleansers, serums makeup etc.
The downtime is minimal and most can return to their normal routine the day after treatment. The most commonly requested treatment areas include the face, neck, décolletage. Pricing varies and is dependent upon the treatment area(s) selected.
Results:
I recommend, based on FDA standards, an initial series of 3 treatments, spaced 30 days apart. Collagen induction works best when it’s already ramped up and proliferations so while doing 1 treatment at a time a few times annually is good- you will see the best results with back-to-back session up front. Maintenance treatments may be desired every 6-12 months and results may vary.
